The location is great. It's an old pub that has been very well modernised while retaining the old frontage. It's all very smart, clean and comfortable. The food is the standard Pizza Express fare, a good selection of tasty dishes but mostly pizzas. All the food is available to eat in or for take away, which a large number of locals go for.
The 'but' is the table tops. Every table has a white marble top. Very smart looking, easy to keep clean and complimenting the decor. But marble conducts heat very well - that's why it was traditionally used for counters in butcher's and dairies. In a restaurant though marble table tops result in cold food. The moment the plate hits the table the food starts to cool, rapidly.
If it were not for the marble tables I'd be giving 4 stars. However, cold food is not to my liking so Pizza Express gets just 3 stars.
